Comment Policy

We know things can get very passionate when it comes to laws and our dogs. However, we aim to provide a healthy, safe, and civil atmosphere for discussion. All comments require admin approval. Even though we moderate comments, we still expect you to remain mature and factual in your comments. Please see the below guidelines that we expect in discussions here on BSL Census.

  • Please read content in its entirety before commenting. It’s always a good idea to know exactly what you are responding to.

  • Do not suggest or infer someone needs to break a law to cater to their dog. This includes suggesting someone lie about their breed of dog on documentation, by mouth, etc. This puts not only the dog at risk, but the person for legal ramifications.

  • Absolutely no bashing of any breed of dog. This includes anti-breed people as well as breed advocates. We will not tolerate discrimination against any dog breeds whether they be pit bulls or chihuahuas.

  • Personal attacks, threats, racism, bigotry, etc will get you immediately banned from discussion here. Again, we all get passionate, but making it personal because you simply don’t agree with someone is not the way to go. It will only work to diminish your point of view.

  • Impersonation of someone else will not be tolerated. We encourage open and safe discussion. This can not be accomplished if we aren’t honest about who we are.

  • Discussion must stay on topic. If you want to talk about something different than what is posted, you are encouraged to either search the site for a relatable topic, or email us directly.

  • Remain factual and provide documentation if you have it. This makes sure your point is solid and gives others “proof” to your comment.

  • Refrain from using words that could be considered offensive. This includes but is not limited to curse words, slurs, etc.

  • If you have an update on a specific case of BSL, please contact us directly so we get that information in a timely manner. If you post the update in the comments section, we might not see it in a short amount of time.

  • Do not spam discussions with links to things that don’t apply, links to social media groups/pages, or fundraisers. If you would like us to consider adding the information you have for a certain topic, please reach out to us directly.

  • Do not post personal information for you or anyone else. When you do, you put yourself and others at risk.

  • If you disagree with something we have said or doubt the facts we provide, please let us know, but do so in a professional way. It does no one any good to attack us in an effort to bring something to our attention.

  • No knee-jerk reactions. Please think of a well thought our reply before commenting. It will make your position sound more informed and will be more respected.
