Next up is Oklahoma. One of 21 states that currently ban BSL. Oklahoma’s prohibition on BSL was voted into law in 2006, and since has saved countless lives of targeted breeds of dogs. Prior to the law going into affect, only one location had BSL, Spiro. It was null and void at the time of passing. Oklahoma was one of the first to combat BSL on such a large scale. Thankfully now people can live there without having to wonder if their dog is safe or not.
Potentially dangerous or dangerous dogs may be regulated through local, municipal and county authorities, provided the regulations are not breed specific. Nothing in this act shall prohibit such local governments from enforcing penalties for violation of such local laws.
